Biography

Tanya Scott Cannady, DNP, MHR, RN, NEA-BC, CPHIMS

DR. TANYA SCOTT CANNADY is a registered nurse with a diverse background in clinical and educational knowledge. She has functioned over the past 30 years as a transformational leader and disruptor, purposefully seeking professional connections, partnerships, and collaborations that encourage maximum utilization of her ability to identify future-driven strategies instrumental for organizational sustainability and success.

Dr. Scott-Cannady designed the Connected Health Economy Theory (CHE) and Cannabis Care platform, a model for care innovation that leverages people’s innate desire to connect by utilizing the accepted social construct on a global level. CHE works to build and strengthen electronic health access, communication, and exchange capabilities inside patient care communities. Connected Cannabis Care inside of the CHE is the next evolution of the construct. It focuses on policy and therapeutic care regimes positioning each managed provider community to pursue a new level of sustainable healthcare equity for cannabis consumers absent bias and micro-aggressive communication and behaviors.

As a former board member of the AHIMA Foundation, she successfully worked with a new administration and established formative policies and processes necessary for committee governance.  Dr.Scott-Cannady has successfully navigated cultural board and organizational dynamics requiring alternative ways to build relationships and rebuild infrastructure foundations. Her extensive administrative expertise in multicultural organizational development and management and her ability to build strong partnerships across the healthcare sector has delivered powerful results throughout her career.  In 2023, Dr. Scott Cannady was elected to the national Board of Directors for the American Cannabis Nurses Association (ACNA) recently recognized as a new nursing specialty by the American Nurses Association. She currently serves on the Executive Board as the Treasurer and is a national subject matter expert on Cannabis Care and Connected Cannabis Communities.

Aligned with her recent health and healing volunteer work, Dr. Scott-Cannady is committed and a passionate advocate for healthcare autonomy, inclusivity, and cannabis care research. In recent years, this work has led to travel across the country sharing important information about incorporating alternative healing options into provider practices to support mental health and geriatric plant-based therapeutics. She is dedicated to using her experience in public and private sectors to broaden access to high-quality, affordable, patient-centered healthcare by supporting innovation, reducing barriers to entry, and building strong inclusive communities.

Dr. Scott-Cannady finished a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Executive Nursing Leadership (DNP) at the University of San Francisco and holds a Masters degree from the University of Oklahoma in Multi-Cultural Human Relations (MHR). She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) from East Carolina University. She has completed a certificate in Medical Cannabis with plans to pursue a master’s degree in Medical Cannabis Therapeutics. She is an active member of the American Cannabis Nurses Association, serving on the Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity, & Finance Committees.

Dr. Tanya Scott Cannady enjoys an exciting life outside of healthcare down on the ranch working with her husband Cowboy and YouTube Social Media Influencer Raymond Cannady training horses and exploring the Northern California region via horseback trails.
